The Brighton Blog Meet

The-Globe

So if you read my post on Friday last week, you’ll know I was about to go my very first blogging event, the Brighton Blog Meet. It was held on Saturday 19th March at The Globe, Middle Street.

I was a little nervous turning up at the venue alone but luckily for me, about a week or so beforehand, I started chatting to Sam (Stories of Sam), so we decided to meet up before the event so we could go in together. We met up at Costa about an hour beforehand and we got on so well. It was really lovely to meet up with her so we weren’t going in alone. We arrived at the venue at 2pm and there were already a lot of bloggers there.

Laura (Lola and Behold) had organised a really great ice-breaker where we had a list of categories and we had to find a corresponding blogger. For example we had to find a proud 30+ blogger, so we had to talk to different people to find out who they were and what kind of blog they wrote. There was a prize for one person if you filled in everything on the list (I think only me and another girl both completed our lists and her list was pulled out of the hat to win the prize).

There were also some amazing companies there for us to speak to. Two of them were local companies based in Brighton.

First up was Homage which I was really excited about as their home store is just beautiful <3 Situated in Bath Street, Seven Dials they have so many stunning things for the home and garden; check out those vases!

Liza was absolutely lovely and we all received a goody bag from them; a little notebook, meraki makeup remover wipes, meraki mint lip balm, a towelled shower bag and a cute little phone pouch <3

Snact was a brand I’d not heard of before but their idea is incredible; they take surplus unwanted fruit from supermarkets that would normally be thrown away, dehydrate it and turn it into fruit jerky. I sampled both flavours Apple and Raspberry and Apple and Mango and they were both delicious. I love that they’re chewy so it takes longer to eat and you feel more satisfied 🙂

I even received a pack of each to take home with me; although I had to photograph them fast as I was keen to eat more!

Pure Potions were also at the meet. Their products are made right here in Brighton and are designed especially for dry or problem skin. They’re fragrance-free, paraben-free and haven’t been tested on animals. A lot of their products are also vegan friendly 🙂

I was lucky enough to be given trial samples of their intensive moisturising cream, intensive hand cream and daily moisturising cream. When I asked about the intensive moisturising ointment for J (who has dermatitis), I was very kindly gifted a small jar of that too! If you want to grab any of these products in Brighton, they’re available from Infinity Foods and Elm Grove Pharmacy.

After we chatted to everyone and took loads of photos, it was time for the raffle! Laura was raising money for Grassroots Suicide Prevention and we raised over £100!

I was lucky enough to have my name called THREE times, but I only chose one prize so someone else could win something. I won a month’s supply of chocolate from Es The Choc – “The world’s first nutricosmetic with a strong, scientifically proven impact on the metabolism of ageing skin.” Basically, you eat a small bar of this chocolate every day and it improves your skin – chocolate that’s good for you?? YES PLEASE!! I can’t wait to scoff them … I mean eat one a day like the box recommends…

Unfortunately the afternoon soon came to an end 🙁 But I had such a lovely time meeting new friends and chatting to other bloggers 😀

Before it was time to leave, Laura gave us all a goody bag. I don’t think I’ve ever been so spoilt in my life! She’s an absolute sweetheart and I really had a fantastic time 🙂 <3

First up are two face masks from Anatomicals; I can’t wait to try these out, and let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good pun? I also received some lovely lift and brighten eye cream from the guys at Bee Good.

I also got some face creams and shampoo and conditioner from Green People, a gorgeous smelling cleansing bar from MooGoo, leave-in hair treatment courtesy of chill*, some incredible smelling conditioner from Viviscal, some Bio-Oil and a bottle of pink grapefruit body spray from Body Fantasies 😀

You’d think that would be enough to keep one person going for ages, but there was still more in the bag!!

A beautiful candle and coffee-scented soap from The Wick Candle in Hove and my very own Stigu planner!

Then came the snacks *disclaimer* some of them may not have made it to the photography stage for, erm, reasons.

I was given these fun-looking cocktail mixers from Funkin; white peach bellini and raspberry mojito, all you have to do is supply the alcohol! I also got a strawberry and chocolate milkshake from Üfit and they’re healthy, winner! And some delicious looking drinks from Life Tonics; Dalandan Orange and Elderberry and Juniper.

I also got some bags of Metcalfe’s Skinny Popcorn in cinnamon which J and I absolutely love, although weirdly only one made it to the photography stage… I also had these treats from Tasty Little Numbers; there are wasabi peanuts, chilli peanuts, jelly beans and chocolate biscuit bars and everything is only 100 calories 😀

I had such a great time and I met some really lovely bloggers who I know I’ll definitely see again. Thanks again Laura, you’re a star!!

Aww, don’t ever think you’re missing out! I went to that one because it was local and wouldn’t feel too nervous travelling miles away to one! If you fancy one though, have a check on Twitter to see if there are any going on near you 🙂
