I was a teenager for about three years of the 90s, when over-plucking was all the rage. Unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones whose eyebrows never grew back to their former glory 🙁
I usually just fill them using pencil, I don’t really know if I’m doing it right, so I thought I’d find some inspiration to help me. I found this tutorial on Pinterest (via Covergirl), I picked this one because it seemed easy. I also figured the premise would be the same for most tutorials; draw round the brows and fill them in.
This is what my eyebrows look like completely bare, I’ve not plucked them for a while as I wanted to see what would happen if I didn’t, the answer is not much! Some hairs did grow back, but not really into a defined shape 🙁
To experiment with my eyebrows, I used Silk Fibre Brow Enhancer (Light), a Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil (002: Hazel) and I also attempted to use eyeshadow for the first time. For this I used my Au Naturel Sleek palette (Bark – front row, number 3) and an angled brush from Ecotools.
The first eyebrow test I did was with the pencil. I do like this look, it’s quite close to my natural colour, but close up it’s so obvious I’ve pencilled them in. Perhaps I need to use the brow brush to soften the lines. It’s not something I’ve ever thought of doing!
Then I tried using the fibres. The brush is way too thick and designed for people who already have nice thick brows and are just filling in some gaps. I think it looks too light and because the brush is thick, the end just looks bulky. I don’t think this product is worth paying £20 for!
Last up was using eyeshadow and an angled brush. This isn’t something I’ve tried before, but it’s something a lot of YouTube tutorials seem to use. I really like this, it looks natural and the angle brush makes it easy to build-up the colour and thickness.
Seeing the end result of using eyeshadow has definitely made me tempted to buy a brow kit. I now just have to find one I like! What do you guys use on your brows? Can you recommend a brow kit? x
